WHY DO WE PROTEST?

To protect the rule of law, democracy, and our US Constitution

The Trump Administration has been repeatedly violating the constitution and the rule of law. They are establishing a secret police via masked ICE/DHS agents. Congress, who should be acting as a check on Trump’s power, will not. And, while the lower courts are upholding the rule of law, the Supreme Court is bowing down. Saving our democracy will thus be up to us, We the People. Here is a short sample of the Trump regime’s corrupt, illegal and unconstitutional actions:

• The Trump regime is disappearing people, including law-abiding legal residents and citizens. They are using heavily armed, often unidentified, masked agents to kidnap people and hold them in horrific conditions with no access to a lawyer. They are ripping families apart, and leaving children unaccompanied. This is unconstitutional and a grave injustice.

• The Trump regime has usurped the power of Congress by withholding and redirecting funds that were previously  approved. Through the fake agency DOGE they have effectively closed or gutted numerous agencies that support us. These agencies were established & funded by acts of Congress, and include the Dept of Education, Health and Human Services, CDC, Social Security, NOAA (weather warnings), FEMA, National Science Foundation, National Institute of Health, USDA, USAID, Voice of America, National Parks, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and more. This is Unconstitutional. The loss of USAID alone is causing ~163,000 child deaths per year.

• Trump has been using the presidency to corruptly enrich himself and his family. He has corruptly accepted the gift of a luxury jet from Qatar, setting up a conflict of interest. What will he owe them? Trump has championed crypto deregulation at the same time he has set up his own Cryptocurrency, and so much more.

• The Trump regime is illegally withholding federal grants that support scientific research, to the detriment of all Americans’ health and well-being.

• The Trump regime is blatantly violating court orders. See, eg, the Abrego Garcia case.

• The Trump regime  is corruptly bullying private institutions, including universities and law firms, to attack those that do not conform politically. This is both corrupt and an extreme abuse of executive power.

• The Trump regime has enabled DOGE/ Elon Musk to steal all of our personal information—for his own use—off of the myriad agencies, including Social Security computer systems.

• The Trump regime has used lies to justify sending in the National Guard and the military against  the  American people in LA. This is a profound violation of our first amendment rights.

• Trump involved us in a foreign war with Iran without consulting Congress, in clear violation of the War Powers Act.

• Trump has made up an “emergency” to give himself the power to impose extreme tariffs that are raising prices and slowing our economy. He is using these tariffs to cull personal favors from foreign governments.

• The Trump regime has been implementing the wildly unpopular Project 2025 by a series of unconstitutional Executive Orders, rolling back rights, and undermining the foundational structures of our democracy and our functioning government. 

• Trump and MAGA are trying to pass a budget bill that will not only take Medicaid away from millions while giving tax breaks to the rich and massively increasing the deficit, but which also includes poison pills undermining the judiciary and prevent states from regulating  AI generated misinformation, and more.
